EPrescribing & Lab Integration
The ePrescribing & Lab Integration features in VEHRDICT are designed to streamline medication management and lab workflows within your practice. These tools help providers prescribe safely, manage pharmacy communication, and order or review lab results directly from the patient’s chart. This page explains how to use each part of the system to improve accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety.
eRx with drug interaction checks
When prescribing a medication through VEHRDICT, the system automatically runs drug interaction checks in real time. These checks include potential conflicts with the patient’s current medications, allergies, and medical conditions. If a potential issue is found, a warning will appear before the prescription is finalized. You can then choose to adjust the medication, dosage, or continue with the order. This feature ensures that each prescription is reviewed for safety without interrupting your workflow.
Controlled substance e-prescribing (EPCS)
VEHRDICT supports EPCS (Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances) for authorized providers. To use this feature, providers must complete the necessary identity verification and two-factor authentication setup. Once enabled, controlled substances can be prescribed directly from the system in compliance with DEA regulations. The process is integrated seamlessly with other prescribing functions and includes audit logs to meet regulatory and security requirements.
Pharmacy search and refill management
When writing a prescription, you can search for a pharmacy by name, address, or zip code. VEHRDICT provides access to a national pharmacy directory so you can quickly locate and send prescriptions to the correct location. Once a prescription has been sent, refill requests from pharmacies are routed back into the system, where they can be approved or denied with a single click. This allows your practice to handle medication renewals efficiently while maintaining a clear record of all pharmacy communication.
Lab ordering and results import (e.g., Quest, LabCorp)
You can order labs directly from within the patient chart using VEHRDICT’s integrated lab ordering feature. Orders can be sent electronically to supported labs like Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp. Once results are available, they are automatically imported back into the system and linked to the corresponding patient encounter. This eliminates the need for manual data entry and ensures that providers have timely access to lab data for review and discussion with the patient.
LOINC integration and structured lab data
Lab results in VEHRDICT are mapped to LOINC (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) standards, which helps ensure consistency and interoperability. Structured lab data makes it easier to track trends over time, generate reports, and support quality measures. Each result is displayed in a standardized format that includes reference ranges, flags for abnormal values, and the original lab source. This structured approach helps improve clinical decision-making and ensures compatibility with other health systems or reporting tools.
